It is with a sorrow so great that words simply cannot express it that we inform our members and friends of the line of duty death of Pierce County Deputy Dominique "Dom" Calata on 3/15/22. Please pray for Deputy Calata and his family, friends, and fellow brothers and sisters at the Pierce County Sheriff's Department. Gone but not forgotten. Rest in peace.

We are heartbroken to inform our community that Deputy Dom Calata has passed away. Our department members remain grateful for the outpouring of support we have received. We ask that you continue to keep Deputy Calata’s family in your prayers during this difficult time. Details about the memorial service will be provided at a later time.

We have received many inquiries about where community members can gather to honor Deputy Calata and show support for our department members. We have set up memorials in front of our South Hill Precinct (271 John Bananola Way E) and the Edgewood Police Department (2224 104th Ave E). We invite the public to leave flowers or messages, or even just gather to show support.

A legacy fund has been established in memory of Deputy Dom Calata. This is the official legacy fund and is created in partnership with Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers. 100% of all funds will go directly to Deputy Calata's wife and young son.
